2010 Old & Gold Program
"Celebrating all things old, secondhand and recycled"
The Old and Gold Festival is on regardless of the weather. Many activities are undercover.
Brunswick Heads hosts the 10th Old and Gold Festival and invites visitors to stay for the Queen's birthday long weekend and enjoy the celebrations. About 5,000 people are expected throughout the day. The town will came alive, with over 20 activities in the theme to enjoy including:
- All Town Garage Sale 8-2 - with more than 60 participating households including combined community group garage sales
- Indoor Collectables Fair - approx 25 stalls in the Memorial Hall
- Ye Old Church Garden Fair at the Catholic Church
- Secondhand & Bric-a Brac Fair at the Brunswick Primary School
- Pottery and Craft Fair at the Wheel of Life Studio
- Trail of Brunswick's 10 secondhand outlets
- Clearance sales - up to 40% off selected items in town shops
- Recycling demonstrations, displays and activities
- Historical displays and self guided walk
- Collections on display - restored bikes and trikes, bren gun carrier tank, petrol & garage memorabilia and WW1 and WW2 model planes display
- "Recycles" - restored bikes on display and sale
- Kids entertainment - free face painting, free Funky Junk kid's craft activities using recycled materials and Sand Wizard
- Live music on Yami's deck & Cino Bambino and fine food
- The Australian Singles Marbles Championships & school teams challenge
- Oh My Tie dye - back to the 70's tie dye workshops
- Bush furniture woodworking demonstrations
Full programs will be available in the Byron News, at the Brunswick Visitor centre, 7 Park St, in shops around town at the end of May.
