Quotes from the day
“I’ve lived in the area for ages, but never felt like I could take on the river, but thanks to this event I’m paddling it for the first time.”
Mullum to Bruns Paddler.
"I am so grateful to the organisers of the Mullum to Bruns Paddle, the sunshine, and the beauty of the river for a wonderful day. I turned up at 8a.m. looking for a spare seat in a kayak with an experienced paddler. None were available. I've barely paddled a kayak before and completed the 10 km journey by myself in a craft loaned by some big-hearted guys on the day. It was a joy to be out in nature and to discover the river from the water, and the Brunswick SLSC volunteers who patiently and humourously waited out on the river for me to finish were great. I was the last in the water, and one of the last to finish. I'm not the stongest person I know and I was ecstatic and filled with such a sense of acheivment when I guided the kayak onto the beach at the end of the journey. I was greeted at the end of the course by the guys who loaned me the kayak and I slid out sideways onto my knees in the sand , laughing because I couldn't stand up. It's my 50th birthday in a couple of weeks, and being able to participate in the Mullum to Bruns paddle was a great gift. Thanks Everyone!"
