Planning Your Ceremony
There are three public spaces generally used for ceremonies in Brunswick Heads and each is owned and administered by separate authorities.
North Coast Holiday Parks Trust manage Torakina Beach and parklands, Banner Park and The Terrace Park and they can be contacted on 02 6686 5171 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
So if you're planning a ceremony in Torakina Beach and parklands, Banner Park or The Terrace Park, these areas are free to be used without a permit, but PLEASE NOTE, there are no exclusive rights to any part of these parks. i.e. the parks may be in use by other parties.
The area along the north wall (north of Torakina River Beach) is managed by Crown Lands Division of NSW Trade & Investment – please phone 1300 886 235.
The beach area south of Torakina, the Surf Club and Memorial Park are managed by Byron Shire Council (02 6626 7044). or http://www.byron.nsw.gov.au/public-activities-weddings-funerals-and-other-private-ceremonies-on-council-owned-or-managed-land. You will need to fill in an Application Form for a Temporary Licence with the following considerations:
- For wedding or private functions – you must fill out the casual hirer’s checklist, and pay the licence and application fee.
- Weddings on Council-owned or managed-land are limited to 2 hours and 150 people.
- The completed application form and all required attachments must be lodged with Council at least six weeks prior to the ceremony.
