Byron Trails Guidebook
Available to purchase from the Brunswick Heads Visitor Centre, Byron Trails is a guidebook of 50 walks accessible from Byron Bay and surrounds. It was created by local resident Mairéad Cleary out of her desire to connect people with nature. Mairéad loves to walk and share her love of exploring the wonders of the beauitful environment here in the Byron and Tweed Shires.

Bird watching
The Brunswick Nature Reserve is an important habitat for birds. Threatened pied oystercatchers and little terns use the intertidal area as a feeding ground, and migratory birds, such as eastern curlews and whimbrels migratory birds utilise the reserve in summer.
Other birds which can be sighted while paddling along the river (according to suitable habitat) include:
Silver gull, cormorant, darter, black duck, egret, white-faced heron, mangrove heron, white ibis, whimberel, masked plover, spoonbill, brahminy kite, white breasted sea eagle, osprey, crested hawk, rainbow lorikeet, scaly-breasted lorikeet, eastern rosella, sulphur crested cockatoo, corella, welcome swallow, laughing kookaburra, kingfisher, dollarbird, rainbow bee-eater, willie wagtail, wren, blue-faced honeyeater, noisy friarbird, brown honeyeater, figbird, currawong, magpie, butcherbird, magpie lark, crow, bar-tailed godwit, bush-stone curlew, beach-stone curlew, sooty oystercatcher and pelican.
